Salt Lake City Volunteer Organizational Planning and Management Project
Salt Lake City’s Mayor’s Office is developing a citywide strategy to strengthen and expand volunteer opportunities across departments and neighborhoods. With support from BerryDunn, we are reviewing how volunteer programs are currently organized, supported, and connected.
This phase is focused on listening and learning. Your feedback will help shape a Volunteer Program Framework and Implementation Roadmap that makes volunteering more accessible, welcoming, and impactful for everyone.
Share your experiences using our survey tool. Your input will help us understand what’s working, where support is needed, and how we can build a coordinated, inclusive volunteer network that reflects the values and spirit of Salt Lake City.

Next Steps
Following community engagement, the project team will use the feedback gathered from residents, nonprofits, and City staff to develop a draft Volunteer Program Framework. This framework will outline the City’s vision, mission, and goals for volunteer engagement, as well as strategies for recruitment, training, and recognition. Once the framework is refined with input from the Mayor’s Office and key stakeholders, the team will prepare an Implementation Roadmap. The roadmap will include a year-one action plan, budget and resource recommendations, and communication strategies to support the official launch of Salt Lake City’s strengthened volunteer program.
