Green Loop | Full Project Timeline
The Green Loop is advancing in phases, with each corridor moving at its own pace through engagement, design, and construction. While initial segments like 900 South and the flagship block connecting Library Square and Washington Square are already in motion, completing more than five miles of greenway will take time—potentially a decade or more.
Explore the timeline below to see how the project came about, what’s already been accomplished, and what’s coming next.

In 2023-2024, Salt Lake City and its consultant team studied what a Green Loop could be, researched whether it was feasible, and provided recommendations on how it could look. With significant input from the public and local businesses, the team:
- Developed goals, objectives, and guiding principles for the entirety of the Green Loop
- Engaged the public in discussions about the types of features, amenities, and potential programs that could make the Green Loop a community asset
- Developed design plans that show how the goals, objectives, and guiding principles could be applied along 200 East, from North Temple to 900 South
