600/700 North Reconstruction
Salt Lake City is rebuilding 600/700 North from 800 West to Redwood Road through 2026. The Jordan River Bridge at 650 North will also be rebuilt during this time. The bridge work will close 600 North for up to 8 months.

Project Update:
Work is currently taking place on the south side of 600 North between 1000 and 800 West. One travel lane in each direction is available on the north side of the road.
All major roadway work between Redwood Road and 800 West, including asphalt, asphalt bike path installation, driveway, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and storm drain replacement, is anticipated to be completed in early fall, with remaining items like landscaping, signage, and final electrical utility upgrades completed by the end of November.
Roadway Improvements Include:
- Repairing soft spots underneath the existing road
- Removing and replacing existing asphalt
- Replacing curb and gutter
- Upgrading storm drain trunk line
- Improving storm water runoff and drainage
- Adding curb-separated bike lanes on both sides of the street
- Adding mid-block crosswalks
- Adding new trees, protecting existing healthy trees, and creating a uniform look to parks trips along corridor
Phases
Construction Between 800 West and 1200 West, Jordan River Bridge Reconstruction
Storm drain, curb and gutter, asphalt, driveway and sidewalk replacement is taking place on the south side of 600 North between 1000 and 800 West through July. Crews are also upgrading the raised crosswalk at 800 West to improve safety and visibility for pedestrians and cyclists.
August - October will bring installation of the asphalt bike path separating cyclists from the roadway, City sponsored trees will be installed in park strips along the entire corridor, new street lighting and overhead signals will be installed, and the final layer of asphalt will be placed between 1200 and 800 West to tie everything together.
Traffic impacts may vary based on the work taking place. There will always be one lane in each direction between 800 and 1200 West.
Before and after upgraded storm drain systems and the first layer of pavement were installed between 1100 and 1200 West. The new pavement will create a smoother ride for drivers. Upgraded storm drain systems will be better equipped to handle major rain and storm run off.
Jordan River Bridge Reconstruction
Our team is hard at work to complete reconstruction of the Jordan River Bridge at 650 North. Horizontal and vertical supports have been installed; final trail lighting upgrades and paving and tie-ins to connect the bridge to either side of 700 North are coming up before the end of June. This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of June and the road will be reopened at this time. Jordan River Trail and river access Is anticipated to be restored by the end of June as well.
This bridge replacement is an investment of critical infrastructure that supports the safety and mobility of Westside neighborhoods. Upgraded trail lighting will support safety and visibility for trail users, while the new bridge will be more resilient to potential earthquakes and major flooding events for decades to come.
East and west travel between 1500 West and Redwood Road is anticipated to reopen by the end of June as the bridge work is completed.
