A better more permanent stage or amphitheater would be appreciated. The Twilight events at Gallivan are really nice, that location is great and central, but the attendance draw is too large for that venue with such a low and small stage, with little height separation for attendees. The performances at Library Square (with the temporary stages) have more height, which is a nicer attendee experience.

I'd like to see community programming or events scheduled here regularly. Sure, stuff happens here often, but maybe not regularly—not every Friday or Saturday, etc. like the farmer's market at Pioneer Park.
Street festivals are awesome, and we do a bunch in SLC in the summer and fall. And they're better when they happen * in * the city! I'm really not a fan of when these festivals get tucked away at the Gateway Mall (sorry Gateway).
But I think the regularity and consistency is key, and will reinforce and cement this block as a destination and a place where things are always happening. Make this a central node for people to gather! Add a giant calendar to displays the upcoming events? And the shade and landscaping (and skatepark?) all the commenters have already been mentioning.

A plaza-style skatepark at Library Square would be an incredible addition to the city. The skate community here is one of the strongest and most inclusive—you’ll find skateboarders, rollerbladers, BMX riders, and more, all sharing the space with respect. A well-designed plaza park wouldn’t just serve locals; it would also attract visitors, since people love traveling for unique and world-class skatepark experiences.
Skating is more than just fun—it’s community. We support each other, look out for one another, and create a positive environment for everyone involved. For many of us, skateboarding has been a healthy outlet that keeps us focused, engaged, and away from trouble. Speaking personally, it’s kept me and my friends grounded and moving in the right direction.
Simply put: skateboarding saves lives.

I think a skate plaza being placed in library square would be a great idea to make the civic center a daily neighborhood place. The library itself is already an attraction for all people that could work well in tandem with a skate plaza. Something that merges leisure, nature, and community building that also functions as a place for skaters (who I find value those certain things) would be sick. Salt Lake's skating community is big and strong and is only growing. Lately I have felt that downtown has been lacking in places just to hangout and kill time without shopping or eating. What's great about skate parks is that they are created in part by trying to mimic urban pedestrian features! Some of the most famous skate spots are a part of urban plazas and parks. Synthesizing something to serve both purposes would be great and bring a lot of needed foot traffic. Go to holladay skatepark to see evidence of this as well as the families it brings around.

I think a skate plaza would be a great addition to the area. I love to have a centrally located meeting spot with plenty of cultural amenities already in the area. A Pioneer Park skate plaza would be a win not just for skaters, but all of SLC. Low long ledges, manual pads, cubs, Low impact, creative obstacles make the spot a great place for beginners and beyond.

There is such a huge community of skateboarding in the SLC area, so many other city’s have famous skate spots that it’s just recognized now and we don’t get bothered. It would be really cool to have a place for EVERYONE to enjoy while being constructed with skateboarders in mind. What we really want is just regular infrastructure IE: ledges (lots of long ledges) preferably granite because whenever it’s skated, it’s the perfect ledge and I think it doesn’t look as bad for the public eye as a waxed up concrete ledge does, walls with transition, small rails, 2 blocks, 3 blocks and generally anything skateable.

Salt lake needs a skate plaza! Not many skate spots and skaters gets kicked out and it would be nice to have our own spot with shade, it will grow the community and encourage skaters to not vandalize and not disrupt public slc spots. The skate community would appreciate it very much!

Seems to me the Greenbelt and Daily neighborhood place Civic Center is a solution looking for a problem. Considering this is the last day of public comment and there is little input, I wonder if all this expense and effort has adequate public support. Are people really wanting another daily "front yard?" The greenbelt and Civic Center expansion isn't needed. The plaza currently serves a very adequate purpose now as a place for various periodic city events. I wish the city leaders would just walk around the city and look at the infrastructure in need of repairs and freshening up and spend the money there instead. The greenbelt is a vanity project for the mayor hoping to seal her legacy. It will turn out to be a black hole for ongoing maintenance expenditures and excuses for tax increases. The greenbelt itself will negatively impact more residents living nearby than benefit the few who will use it.
