Go to the project

Join us to learn how YouthCity elementary age kiddos are learning how a city works. This event welcomes all YouthCity programs AND their parents AND a handful of community partners. We anticipate around 400 people will attend and this even may provide you opportunities to connect with our community.

On Thursday, May 7th our YouthCity programs will host a parent engagement event following our “CityVille” curriculum session. CityVille is a 7-week curriculum session where each of our 7 sites creates businesses that kids will work in and be a part of, while simultaneously purchasing goods that they are creating as groups from one another using CityVille money. These are services such as restaurants, drink cafes, slime shops, jewelry shops, nail salons, movie theaters, arcades, sports clubs and other creative ideas.

All sites will bring 2 to 3 business to the Sorenson Multi-Cultural Center where we will create our version of a “City” using the student-created businesses. We will be inviting families to join the Celebration and we will have tabling opportunities for community organizations and other City Partners to join us to provide resources to families.

This event will showcase student’s knowledge of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, teamwork, and collaboration amongst all our sites through this large event. Site-wide YouthCity events typically bring in 500-700 community members all around the purpose of supporting our youth through our programs. We would love to have you in attendance to connect with our families and to see what YouthCity collaboration looks like across the City.
